Looking across Southsea yesterday, stood on the first deck of the Spinnaker Tower in Gun Wharf, I felt strange.
Strange because looking out at that unfamiliar jungle of buildings, I knew my life used to be somewhere in the middle of it all. Somewhere out there right now, the lives of my friends quietly, unobtrusively, tick away. Invisible to tourists. Out of site to all but those who know them.
Strange that each busy street, familiar from the ground, from up in the tower looks calm, surreal. Unreal.
But then looking down from the tower, squatting in the centre of the glass floor, contemplating the fall from 100ft up, that's pretty surreal too.
